1861 census for Fluchary, Sutherland Scotland has Jane listed as a visitor, aged 11, staying with her Uncle Alexander Ross, aged 25 and his wife Margaret and his sister Janet. All are listed as being born in Dornoch, Sutherland. 1871 Scottish census states- Jane Ross age 21, born abt 1850 at Dornoch, General Domestic Servant. Address- Rosebank, Sutherland. 1881 Scottish census- Jane Ross age 27, born abt 1854 Dornoch, Sutherland occupation- Housekeeper, Address- Lochinver Hotel, Assynt, Sutherlandshire.
