(Aug 1859). IN RE JOHN ROSS, A SUPPOSED LUNATIC, EX PARTE — M'DONALD. Mr. J. W. Stephen appeared in support of a petition for a commission de lunatico inquirendo, in reference to Mr. John Ross, of Gledfield Station. He was instructed by the brother of Mrs. Ross, and uncle of Mr. Ross's children. The affidavits showed that the station alone was of the value of more than 20,000l., and that Mr. Ross had been twice of unsound mind, and was now under care in the Pascoevale Retreat. The petition prayed that the commission might be executed at Pascoevale, by Mr. Hackett, J.P. Mr. Justice Molesworth desired an affidavit to satisfy him that there were no relatives on the father's side in the colony, to whom, if there were any, he would give liberty to be present at the execution of the commission. He would grant the prayer of the petition after seeing such an affidavit. The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1957) Fri 26 Aug 1859, Page 6: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/5686909
