Note:  :Her obituary in the Gadsden Times states that:

"Mrs Martha Emma Ross Johnson, 79, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.H. Duncan, at 503 South Fourth Street, Sunday night after a lingering illness".

Note: Unless she died after midnight, this would put her death on the 27th of September, 1936 rather than the 28th, as reported to me by some members of the family.

The obit continues: " Mrs Johnson had been a resident of Etowah County for more than 40 years, having removed here with her family from Gurnsey, O.,in 1896. She was the widow of the late Nelson Johnson and a grand-daughter of the late Moses W. Kennedy, pioneer physician of Ohio. She was a member of the Eleventh Street Methodist Church,having united with the Methodist church at the age of 16".

The reference to"pioneer physician of Ohio" has since proved erroneous. Moses Washington Kennedy was a mill owner. The other Moses Kennedy who lived in the same area of Ohio was the physician. Moses Washington Kennedy's father and grandfather were both physicians. This probably explains the confusion.
