A marriage of local Interest was that of Captain Thomas-Fairfax-Ross, M.C., 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, and Miss Alice Enyd Felicite Chinnery, which was celebrated at St. Margaret's Church, Warnham, Sussex, on July 10, 1924. The bride is the daughter of the late W. M. Chinnery, D.L., of Hatchford Park, Surrey, and of Mrs. Christopher Stone, Fullers Farm, Mannings Heath, Horsham, and late of Steyning, Sussex. The bridegroom is the son of the late Dr. E. Fairfax-Ross, of Sydney, and of Mrs. Fairfax-Ross. The bride, who is a well-known figure In society, sporting, and hunting circles, wore a gown of white watered silk, shot with silver, and made with an apron of silver lace. The long train of old Brussels lace was enveloped by the bridal veil of tulle, hold in place by a cap of silver, and orange blossom. A prayer-book, bound in blue Morocco, was carried in preference to a bouquet. A guard of honour for the bridai pair was formed by the bridegroom's brother officers of the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, wearing their uniforms of black and green. The church was decorated with flowers and ferns, and the screen was massed with orange blossom. A Union Jack hung over the War Memorial. The bridesmaids—Misses Joan Burrell, Jeanne Courtauld, Angela du Boulay, Suzanne du Boulay, Elisabeth Hornung, and two younger girls, Misses Ladybird Stocker and Pamela Saville—wore frocks of flame coloured chiffon, with Dutch caps of tinselled lace, finished with green wreaths. They carried bouquets of flame-coloured sweet peas, and wore diamond pendants, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. John Bevan. The officiating clergymen were Rev. Felix Farebrother (Vicar of Warnham), Rev. H. B. Chubb (Vicar of Hatchford, Surrey), Rev. T. B. Carter, and Rev. F. J. Stone, uncles of the bride. When leaving the church Captain and Mrs. Fairfax-Ross passed under an arch of bayonets, formed by Warrant-Officers and Sergeants of the bridegroom's regiment, and the regimental buglers sounded a fanfare specially arranged for the occasion. The reception was held at the home of the bride's mother and step-father, Fullers Farm. The bride wore a frock of apricot chiffon and lace, with a picture hat of blue chiffon and lace, when leaving for the honeymoon, which was spent at Burton Park, loaned by Major Courtland, and later at the American Embassy at the Hague placed at their disposal by the Right Hon. R. Tobin.
