Duncan Ross was born in Kilmuir-Easter, Ross-shire, Scotland on the 22nd of March 1804 and baptised on the 28th of March. He was the son of Duncan Ross and Anne McLeod.^[1]

Duncan Ross married Sidney Steven at Watten, Caithness, Scotland on the 10th of April 1835.^[2] They had at least four children. Jane, b 1836.^[3] Ann, b 1837.^[4] Duncan, b 1839.^[5] Janet, b 1840.^[6]

In 1851, Duncan was living at his home in South Dunn, Watten, with his wife and children. His profession was not given but he was likely working as a labourer.^[7]

Although a daughter named Alexandrina is listed on the 1851 and 1861 census, a search of FamilySearch and Scotlands People has failed to show a birth for the correct period in Caithness.

A search for Duncan, the son, shows him on the 1861 and 1871 census with his wife and family.
