Children of William and Margaret (McDowell) Love. (All born in York District, now York Co., S. C.)[1]
Sarah [Love], b. 8-1-1782, m. in 1807 to Francis, son of William Ross. He was b. 12-25-1779, about seven miles from present town of Yorkville, S.C. They removed with Sarah's father to Livingston Co., Ky., in 1807. the spring of 1809 they went in flat boats to Natchez, then in Miss. Territory, and settled in Pike Co., about sixty miles east of Natchez.
WILLIAM S., b. 9-15-1808, m. 11- -1829,to Mary A., dau. of Robert and Margaret Magee. He is a farmer, resides in Attalla Co., Miss. Mary A. b. 7-3-1815. William S. was Probate Judge of Attalla Co. for two years. P. 0., Kosciusko, Attalla Co., Miss.
RACHEL H., b. II-27-1810, m. I-24-1828, to Wiley Johnson. He was a farmer; d. 3-I-1840, in Covington Co., Miss. Rachel H. d. 2-5-1869.
ARMIDILLA, b. 3-4-1812 m. 12-22-1836, to Robert B. W., son of Elijah Fleming, of York Co., S. C. Robert B. W. removed to Madison Co., Miss., where he soon became an active member and elder in the Presbyterian church. He was a farmer, d. 5-4-1865. Armidilla d. 2-9-1850.
MARGARET M ., b. 6-27-1813, m. 3-27-1832, to Killis Walton. Killis b. 7-5-1816. He was a farmer and trader. Margaret M. d. 12-13-1889.
ROBERT L., b. 6-22-1815, m. 12-26-1839, to Elizabeth A. McDonald, of N. C. She was b. 12-6-1822, and d. 9-14-1845· Robert L. m. 2d time 3-4-1847, to Tabitha McKee. Robert L. was a minister in the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and had been in the ministry for forty-four years. He d. 7- -1888, in Meridian, Miss. No children by either marriage.
GEORGE A., b. 6-22-1815, m. in 1842, to Ann Nash, of Canton, Miss. He was a farmer, d. 8-29-1878. Ann's P. 0., Canton, Madison Co., Miss.
ELIZA, b. 9-21-1818, m. 8- -1845, to John L. McCool. He was a physician. John L. d. 4-15-1851. Eliza m. 2d time 6-13-1852, to John B. Moore, a planter from Georgia. Eliza d. I 1-24-1865. John B. d. 2-29-1880.
JULIA F., b. 12-6-1822, m. 2- -1845, to Howell C. Adams. Howell C. practiced medicine for some years and then went to farming. P. 0., Carthage, Panola Co., Texas.
Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-Chromosome testing John J Ross, Jr and Paul Strid match on 110 of 111 markers; cf. FTDNA Ross Family Project DNA results chart. They also share a confirmed haplogroup on the Big-Y test: R-FGC35131, setting them apart from other cousins with R-Z23532. Most remote confirmed male ancestor = Francis Ross (1694-1750).
