Isabella was born in 1829 at Inverness-shire, Scotland to parents David Ross and Abigail Margaret Sutherland. She immigrated to Upper Canada with her family in 1832, travelling on the same boat as her future husband, Robert Murray. She married Robert Murray at Woodstock, Oxford, Canada West in 1854. She died at Zorra Township, Oxford County on October 23, 1885 and is buried at the Log Church Cemetery in Zorra Township.
