Biography

Little is known of Alexander Ross Jr, the eldest son of Scottish fur trader Alexander Ross (Sr) and his Syilx/Okanagan wife Sarah (Sally) Timentwa. Alexander Jr was born in 1815 in an area that would later become Washington state. In early summer 1825, Alexander Ross Sr. left Fort Spokane with his son Alexander, in a party that included Hudson's Bay Company Governor George Simpson, destination the Red River Colony, which would ultimately become Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. [1]

NOTE: Alexander and the other four oldest Ross siblings were baptized at St John's in Red River c1828, when their parents marriage was formalized.
