John was born in 1922 the youngest son of Victor Jessie McLeod Ross (1881-1960) and Estra (Persson) Ross (1880-1925) [1]
John attended Oamaru South School and then Waitaki Boys High School. He left School and became a office boy at Ireland and Co
John Enlisted in the Army at the outbreak of the WW2 (Service Number: WW11 449789) and served in the 23rd Battalion in Egypt and Italy [2]
John met Noeline Nightingale [Nightingale-1928} while teaching Sunday School at St Pauls Presbyterian Church in Oamaru in 1948 and they were married on 19th February 1949. [3] They had four children, the youngest Trisha (Ross) Dunn was born in 1956.
He retired as Accountant for Ireland & Co, Secretary Gazes Poultry Farms and Waimate Silos and Manager Meeks Mill in 1984 in Oamaru, North Otago, New Zealand.
In 1986 Noeline and John moved to Waikanae, Wellington District, New Zealand. They lead very busy lives enjoying the new church, and meeting new friends. In 2010 Noeline was diagnosed with Dementia and her illness gradually took her from the family.
John Ross died on the 17 October and was buried on 21 October 2017 in Waikanae RSA Cemetery, Waikanae, Kapiti Coast District, Wellington, New Zealand.[4]
