Adelia Gay Ross, daughter of George Washington Ross and Martha (Steelman) Ross, was horn on a farm in Heath Creek Township, Pettis County, Missouri, July 13, 1874, and attended the country district school. On August 2, 1899, she married Benjamin Franklin DeWitt[2] and to their marriage were born:
1. Lee Milas DeWitt, b. 7-26-1900; d. 3-20-1963; never married. Resided at the time of his death at 119 East Walnut St., Sedalia, Mo.
2. Benjamin Franklin DeWitt (III), b. 8- -1903; d. 1904.
3. Ada Franklin DeWitt, b. 6-29-1906; m. 12-25-1935, at Center, Ralls County, Missouri, to Paul Warren Bennett[3], who was born 7-17-1906, at Kinderhook, Pike County, Illinois . They have no issue and reside at 313 West McPike Street, Vandalla, Missouri 63382.
4. John Elmer DeWitt, b. 12-25-1910; d. 12-28-1910.
5. Newton Ulysses DeWitt, b. 12-23-1911; m. lst, Nona Shull[4]; m. 2nd, Elsie DeWitt Price; m. 3rd, Addie Glenn[5]; d. 5-4-1954.
Adelia Gay (Ross) DeWitt, died April 6, 1912[6] [7], and together with her husband, Benjamin Franklin DeWitt[8], and her children, Lee Milas DeWitt[9], Benjamin Franklin DeWitt (III)[10],John Elmer DeWitt[11] and Newton Ulysses DeWitt[12], are buried in the Potter Cemetery[13] in Cooper County, near Clifton City, Missouri.
