Birth and Early Life

Elizabeth Ellen Ross, known as Ellen, was born on 30 January 1847 in Dahlgren, Hamilton, Illinois, United States to William P. Ross (1815 - ) and Sally Campbell (c. 1820- ).

Siblings

  1. Martha Ann Ross was born on 24 October 1843 in Illinois, United States. She married William R. Stull (1844-1900) c. 1865. Martha died on the day, 29 December 1877, she gave birth to her twin boys in Illinois. After Martha's death, her husband married her sister Elizabeth Ellen who raised Martha's 7 children.
  2. John W. Ross was born c. 1851 in Illinois, United States.
  3. Samuel G. Ross was born on 27 July 1855 in Hamilton County, Illinois, United States. He married Mary Harrell on 28 December 1896 in Jefferson County, Illinois. Samuel died on 1 July 1918 in Mount Vernon, Jefferson, Illinois, United States.
  4. Franklin Ross born c. 1860 in Illinois, United States.

Elizabeth married twice. Please take note that she raised the 7 children of her sister when she married her deceased sister's husband and she never calls them stepchildren. They are called her children.

  1. Page P. Crisel (c. 1840-1869) on 14 April 1864 in Hamilton County, Illinois.
  2. William R. Stull (1841-before 1900) on 26 April 1878 in Illinois. William was the husband of her sister who died after giving birth to the twin boys Andrew and William. Her sister and William had a total of 7 children when Ellen married him.

Death and Burial

She died on 7 June 1923 in Venice, Madison, Illinois, United States at the age of 76 and having been twice widowed. She was buried on 10 June 1923 in the St. John's Cemetery, Granite City, Madison, Illinois. Find A Grave: Memorial #127079986
