Lizzie was born in 1895. to John and Mary Ann (nee Paisley) Ross , She wanted to be called Elizabeth. Lizzie Ross Gilhooly passed away in 1974. in Orangeville Ontario and was buried next to David, her husband in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. She wrote an account of her early life, in a book about the Calder Saskatchewan area. The book is called, "Those Were the Days"

She used to tell us grandchildren about her early childhood in the prairies and pass on to us the stories that she heard about her ancestors in Scotland. She hated her name, lizzie ,so acquaintances knew her only as Elizabeth. She wrote some very nice poetry in her later years. Her profile picture is not one that she liked, because she just had very painful sinus surgery a few days before. To us grandchildren she was always a beautiful person
