Richard W. Ross[1][2][3] was born to Joseph and Anna Ross in Paint Twp., Ross County, OH on June 3, 1823[4].

He married Susan Mariah Lease[1][2], daughter of William and Hannah (Fisher) Lease on December 25, 1845 in Ross County, OH.[5]

They were the parents of nine[4] children: William Lease Ross[1][3][2][4], Phoebe Ann (Hyde)[1], Mary Lusetta (Hill), Sarah M. (Brown), Samuel Hamilton[4], Joseph Robert[2][3], Mariah Belle (Ross)[2][3][4], John Henry[2][3][4], and George Albert[2][3][4].

Richard passed away on February 25, 1888 at the age of 64. He was buried at the Jackson Cemetery in New Albany, Kansas.[4]
