Information provided from Ancestry.com sources
I have in my possession a large chart that was done in the early 1900's of this family, starting with William and Lydia Ross. The chart was done by a Genealogist that was paid to do the family tree to display at family reunions. This is where I was able to start my research from.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with David by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with David:
There are no relatives alive other than 1st, 2nd or 3rd cousins to take a DNA test. My objective here is to hopefully find the name of my birth father.
Did you take a DNA test? If you know that this David Ross is related to you, there are 4 of us who are showing DNA matches to him. How does your text compare?
