George Ross-Lewin was born about 1751 in Ross Hill, Killadysert, County Clare, Ireland. He was the second son of Harrison Ross-Lewin and Hannah Westropp.[1][2] George was baptised on 18 May 1751.[2]
He entered the military as a cornet in the 14th Dragoons.[1][2]
