Biography

Birth and Early Life

Barbara ROTH was born October 19, 1818, in Wilmendingen, Germany. Barbara was the 2nd of 10 known children born to Benedict Roth and Jacobina King.

Marriage and Children

On August 1, 1849, Barbara married Joseph Stauffer (son of John Stauffer and Barbara Kauffman) and together they had five sons and four daughters:

  1. Joseph R Stauffer (b.1852; m1 Maria Guth 1874; m2 Mattie Bender 1880; d. 1918) [1]
  2. Benjamin Stauffer (b. 1856; m. 1885 Lena Steider; d. 1814) [2]
  3. Christian Stauffer (b. 1857; m. 1880 Lydia Harris; d. 1908) [3]
  4. John Stauffer (b. 1861; m. 1882 Barbara E. Roth; d. 1930) [4]

Joseph, Barbara and their family came to the United States in 1866, locating in McLean County, Illinois, and in 1878 they moved to Seward County, Nebraska, United States, settling on a farm west of Milford, where Joseph and Barbara resided for the rest of their lives.

In 1880, "Joseph, age 55" and "Barbara, age 62" were living with their son "John, age 19" in Seward, Seward County. Joseph and John were both employed as farmers. [5]

Death and Burial

Barbara Roth Stauffer, passed away on September 23, 1884, age 65, in Seward County, Nebraska. She was buried at East Fairview Cemetery, Milford, Seward County, Nebraska. [6] [7]

Barbara's husband Joseph passed away on May 11, 1907 (aged 82) at Seward County, Nebraska. He was buried at the East Fairview Cemetery, Milford, Seward County. [8]
