Jakob Roth (4 Johannes3, 2 Johannes2, 1 Johannes1) b. 1690, St. Marie-aux-Mines, France, occupation Minister, m. Anna Frey, b. 10 Mar 1709, Rothenbach, Sw or Montbeliard, France, (daughter of Ulrich Frey and Anna Schuerch) d. 26 Jun 1779, Les Gouttes, Exincourt, Montbeliard, France. Jakob died 19 Mar 1766, Les Gouttes, Exincourt, Montbeliard, France. Ref #16 gives birthplace Montbeliard. Ref # 26 says probably St. Marie-aux-Mines. Moved to Montbeliard after 1712 expulsion of Amish from Alsace. See David Habegger's article "5 Generations of Freys From Rothenbach, Switzerland" in Mennonite Family History, April 1991. Les Gouttes is the name of thc farm where he settled. Jacob was the leading minister (Elder) in the Amish congregation on the outskirts of Exincourt near Montbeliard, and many weddings and funerals took place at Les Gouttes. Children arranged by order of baptisms. Anna: Ref # 3 DOB is perhaps baptismal date. Ref # 4 gives DOB as 1700, which seems a bit early given some of the dates of birth and marriage shown for some of their children. Her parents came from Rothenbach about the time she was born.
