Moritz Roth was born in Regete-Ruscka, Hungary (now Roskov, Slovakia), in 1856, son of Jacob Roth and Celia Weiss. He arrived in New York in November 1871, aboard the "SS Donau" and settled in New York, where he was a butcher. He married Catherine (Kate) Strauss in 1878 and had a large family. He passed away in 1912.
