Biography

Marguerite Rougeau, the daughter of Jean Baptiste Rougeau and his first wife, Marguerite Demouy married Francois Ledoux on 23 Dec 1776 in Natchitoches.[1] According to a published source about the Ledoux family and cited in Rev. Hebert's CD of South Louisiana Records, her spouse was born 22 Oct 1755 and baptized on 5 Nov 1755 at St. Francis Church in Pointe Coupee and married on December 21st instead of December 23.[2]

Marguerite may have gone by the name Modesta as indicated in two church records; one of which refers to her as the wife of Francisco Le Doux.[3]
