Veteran: War of 1812 - 31st Regt U.S. Infantry, Enlisted Pvt. Dec 6, 1812

Reuben was born about 1797 in Cortland County New York. He and his wife Lucy were married sometime around 1815. He raised all 6 of his children in NY, until he was about 28 years old. Then in 1830 he moved his young family to Denmark, Ohio. Reuben and Lucy lived in Ohio for about twenty years and his son Daniel (Daniel Sr.) was married to Catherine Fisher in Ohio. They raised 3 children and Daniel Jr. was the last of Catherine’s children born in there, before he and his father Reuben, moved the clan to Rome Township, Pennsylvaina. They remained in Pennsylvania for about 6 years and Catherine gave birth to Daniel’s fourth and last child, Phoebe, in Rome Township. In about 1865 Reuben and Daniel Sr. moved both of their families to Juneau County, Wisconsin, and 4 years later, young Daniel Jr. married Emma Lawrence in Lyndon, Wisconsin. Reuben Lived another 13 years. This was long enough to see His great grandson Frank Alvin Rounds and 4 others born in Wisconsin. Reuben died 27 Sep 1882

Some researchers have listed Reuben C. Rounds as son of Comfort Rounds, Jr. (b. 1771 in Rehoboth, Massachusetts and living in New York in 1800). However I have not discovered any evidence to establish Reuben’s parentage. It is tempting to make such a connection because Comfort, Jr. was probably living in Pompey, NY at the time Reuben was born in Solon (about 20 miles north of Solon). Furthermore, Comfort Jr. does have a son named Reuben, but he was born in 1805 not 1797, and the other Reuben’s children are not the same as our Reuben’s children. It remains a possibility, but so far, there is no evidence.

Reuben was born in 1797. He passed away in 1882.

Rounds-164 and Rounds-906 appear to represent the same person because: I made a mistake in adding this person. I saw later that Rounds-164 already existed. My mistake.
