Biography
John Rouse was born in about 1826 at Souldern in Oxfordshire. He was baptised at Souldern on 24 December 1826, the son of Richard Rouse (a labourer) and his wife Mary. [1] [2] [3]
In 1841 John was living at Souldern with Richard Rouse (presumably his father) and Jane Rouse (presumably a sister). His age was given as 14, implying a birth date in 1826 or 1827. [2]
John Rouse and Rebecca Finch were married in 1850 (probably at Souldern) [4].
In 1851 John was living at Bates Lane in Souldern with his wife Rebecca and their daughter Ellen. His age was given as 26, implying a birth date in 1824 or 1825. His birthplace was given as Souldern, Oxfordshire. He was an agricultural labourer [5].
