Biography
Pierre Rousseau, born 13 October 1863 at Châtillon-en-Bazois (Nièvre) was the son of Jean Rousseau and Anne Durand.[1]
He was a chef at the "à la carte" restaurant aboard the Titanic. During the sinking, he was reportedly able to reach the deck with his assistant Paul Maugé, but refused to jump into a lifeboat on account of his weight. He died in the sinking on 15 April 1912.[2]
In 1901 he was living in Halsey Street, London. He was married to Alice Bazin and had one daughter, Berthe Rousseau.[3] According to his French military record, he had been living in England since 1893, and before that in Paris.

Il est chef cuisinier du restaurant "à la carte" à bord du Titanic et périt dans la naufrage, après avoir refusé de suivre son assistant Paul Maugé à bord d'un canot de sauvetage, en raison de sa forte corpulence[2].
Il était marié à Alice Bazin et père d'une fille, Berthe Rousseau[2].
