Biography

Françoise Rousseau was a Canadian First Peoples .

Françoise Rousseau was born in 1720 in Pabos, Canada, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Jean Rousseau (<1690– ) and Madeleine Angelique Unknown (~1698–>1786).

Françoise (9) married Pierre Le Vicaire (14) (born about 1715 in Haut-Maînil (Pas-de-Calais) France) in 1730. Their children were:

Françoise died after 1785 in Bas-Caraquet, Gloucester, Nouveau-Brunswick, aged about 64.

Research Notes

The husband François Boulay was removed, because she remarried with another Francois, for these reasons:

Francois Boulay was married twice, the first with Marie Genevieve Morin in 1758, the second with Marie Josephe Rousseau in 1766. On Francois' burial certificate of 1805, it is written: "during his lifetime husband of Marie Josephe Rousseau". Marie Josephe Rousseau died in 1808.

In conclusion, if during his lifetime in 1805, he was the husband of Marie Josephe Rousseau whom he married in 1766, then it is impossible that it was this Francois who married Francoise Rousseau.

DNA

Francoise Rousseau and her mother have each had an A2 haplogroup, indicating Native origins. These results can be found here, and here[1]

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Françoise by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Françoise:

Since François Boulay and Jeanne Rousseau have no births recorded for either Marie Louise or Hélène (Caraquet Duguay wives), I don't think there is any reason to believe it is the same couple as the girls parents (Plus Marie-Barbe is born the year Louise should be). The mother is named Françoise both times and François named Goulet (not Boulet) once. There are too many differences to assume they are the same family. A lot of speculation on this profile, starting with her parents. We cannot rely on the dispensation proper since there is always conflicting dispensations in these cases (especially in the Giraud St-Jean cases). This case will clear up when Françoise is mt-DNA tested through the Goulet girls that will show she is also A2, not the European one expected for Marie-Jeanne Rousseau (via Marie Anne St-Denis). PRDH avoids to make this connection and so should we.

Wow, who knew. We just got today a first descendant of Helene Boulet daughter of Françoise Rousseau and it confirms A2 so it is the same Françoise Rousseau widow of Levicaire.

Rousseau-157 and Rousseau-1226 appear to represent the same person because: Both Rousseau-157 and Rousseau-1226 are the same person. Both are married to Pierre Levicaire and Marie Levicaire Gionet is the daughter of both women.
