Biography

In various records the given name is shown as Delanah, Delana, Delena, Delenah, or Delina.

Delanah is also named as Leno Routzahn in her father Benjamin's 1825 will ^[1] and as Lenah Routzong, a minor child, in an 1834 Frederick County, Maryland equity court case over the estate of her father Benjamin Routzahn.^[2]

And finally, there is this partial text from biographical notes in Source ^[3].

"Delanah died on July 24, 1891 at age 76-6-10. She was called 'Lena' in her birth record and 'Lenah' in a son's birth record."

Date of birth shown is from Source ^[4] and is marked [uncertain]. No source is given for the date, but if it is calculated from date of death and a reported life span, we note that Sources ^[4] and ^[3] state two different life spans and neither is consistent with the date of birth shown. Source ^[3] also states an age at death different from that in the death notice ^[5].

"Mrs. Sheffer. Mrs. Jonas Sheffer, who has been an invalid for 8 years, died last evening at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. D.V. Harp, Myersville. Mrs. Sheffer has suffered during her infliction as only few can realize. During this time she had to be lifted about like a child. She was 72 years old. Her funeral will take place at the Lutheran church in Middletown, Sunday at 10 a.m., of which church she was a consistent member."

Marriage Records

Following the death of her first husband, Perry's Flook, in 1842, Delanah had a subsequent marriage to Jonas Sheffer. We have not found a record of that marriage.
