John was born about 1665. John Rowan ... He passed away about 1728.

His will of 1726 was proved in 1728.[1] In it he names:

  • wife Margaret Stewart
  • daughters Jean, Rose, and Christian
  • eldest son John and his son John
  • sons James, William, Robert, Andrew, Alexander, Stewart, Matthew, Hugh, and Atchison.

Trinity College records allow birth years to be calculated for some of the sons:[2]

  • Alexander, born 1694
  • Robert and William b1701
  • James, born 1718.
