Biography
Leroy was born in 1901 in Maine. He is the son of Melvin Rowe and Emma Allen.[1] In 1910, the family was living in Palmyra, Somerset County, Maine.[2] Leroy had a brother named Verne.
By 1920, the family had moved to Pittsfield, Somerset County, Maine.[3]
Leroy served during World War I. He enlisted in the US Navy on 11 Sept 1918. His rank was A.S.: Sea 2C. He was honorably discharged on 4 Feb 1921 in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother, Emma, was listed as his emergency contact.[4]
He married Hilda Laflin on 15 Jul 1922 in Maine.[5]
Leroy died in 1926.[6] The Maine veterans Cemetery Records have an incorrect birth date for him of 3 September 1900. His birth record indicates he was born October 13, 1900. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta, Kennebec County, Maine.[7]
