Verne was born in 1903. He is the son of Melvin Rowe and Emma Allen.[1] In 1910, the family was living in Palmyra, Somerset, Maine.[2] Verne had a brother, Leroy.
By 1920, the family had moved to Pittsfield, Somerset, Maine.[3]
He married Ruby M Newell on 14 Jan 1924 in Maine.[4] By 1930, they were living in Hallowell, Kennebec, Maine.[5] His mother Emma was living with them, although she was noted as a son on the census. Ruby and Verne had two young sons, Verne Jr and Edward O. There was also a boarder in the home. Verne was a factory worker.
They were still in Hallowell City, Kennebec, Maine, in 1940.[6] Their two sons and a daughter, Jean, were living with them, as well as a boarder, Loyd Wyman, who was most likely a relative (Loyal Wyman?). Verne's occupation was listed as a self-employed painter.
