Mary Rowe was the eldest of three daughters born to Anthony Rowe and his wife Mary Manley. [1] She was baptised on 19 February 1683/4 at St Martin-in-the Fields, Westminster. [2]
She was married first to Edmund Denton MP, son of Alexander, in a union that caused a scandal as her father in effect sold her to cancel his gaming debts.
