"Mrs. Martha H. Bailey, widow of Charles C. Bailey, of Troup county, Ga., died on the 26th of April, 1872, age 87 years, 3 months, 18 days. Her maiden name was Rowland and she was a native of Franklin county, Va., where she was raised, converted to God in 1824, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she continued an acceptable member until her death. She and her husband came to Georgia in 1827, and in 1829 settled themselves permanently in Troup county, where they all now sleep side-by-side, she having lived on the premises forty-three years. Their house being conveniently situated, and they being good Methodists, the ministers of Christ were refreshed by them - finding a home and receiving many kindnesses at their hands. Her Christian character was uniform and settled, reflecting a steady light before men. She was kind and generous, ever ready to relieve and help the needy. For some years before her death she was totally blind, and was necessarily deprived of many sources of pleasure and happiness, accessible to others; but she still endured as seeing him who is invisible. ..."
