Daughter of Lod Rowland and Polly Webb of Warren County, TN. Elizabeth Rowland Gribble Cotton was first married to Andrew Jackson Gribble in 1857 in Warren County who died in the Battle of Stones River at Murfreesboro, TN on Dec 31, 1862. She and A.J. had 3 children (Parlee, Mary Ann, and James Knox Gribble ). On Apr 27, 1863, she married William F. Cotton, also his second marriage, in Warren County. Elizabeth and William F. Cotton had 6 children (Sarah, Louiza Elizabeth, Robert, Joseph Edward, and twins Alfred and Albert. Elizabeth predeceased William F. Cotton who died Feb 14, 1897 in Warren County, TN. William F. Cotton's first wife, Patunia Amanda (Landrum) Cotton is also buried in the family cemetery. William F. and Patunia Amanda had 8 children before she died in 1863.
