Parents are unknown. Previously connected parents Joseph Roland (1775-1860) and Elizabeth (Fouts) Rowland (1775-1860) were marked "uncertain" in Feb 2023 and "disconnected" on 08 Jan 2024. That couple has a different son named John.

DNA: No known direct paternal line descendants have taken a Y-DNA test. Therefore, this line is currently classified as one of the Untested Rowland Lines.

Do not confuse with John Rowland (abt.1798-), son of Joseph Roland and Elizabeth Fouts, who remained in North Carolina.

Do not confuse with John Rowland (b 1790), married Catherine Stigers, and moved to Red River County, Texas in 1856.

This John Rowland was in Indiana by the 1820 census, probably arriving with the Stierwalt family from Rowan County, North Carolina.

Another Rowland, Alexander Rowland, is listed as a pioneer of Morgan County, Indiana, having arrived in the year 1822. ^[1]
