Forrest H. Rowland, 85, Stover, died Oct. 18, 2000, at the Golden Age Living Center, Stover. He was born Nov. 10, 1914, in Stover, a son of Lewis and Lee Brown Rowland. He was married Feb. 2, 1947, in Versailles, to Leoma M. Silvey, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a 1932 graduate of Stover High School. He worked as a substitute mail carrier in Stover until taking a fulltime position until his retirement. He also farmed and did carpentry work.
He was the secretary for the Stover school board. He was a member of the Stover lions Club where he was secretary and president. He was a member of the Gravois Mills VFW Post 5902 and the Galloway-Martens American Legion Post 343, Stover. He was a member of Stover United Methodist Church where he taught youth Sunday school and later attended the men's Sunday school class.
Other survivors include: two sons, Steve Rowland, Overland Park, Kan., and Craig Rowland, Stover; one daughter, Brenda Rowland, Stover; and five grandchildren. One grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stover United Methodist Church. The Rev. Diane Cutler will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Stover Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. Memorials are suggested to the Stover United Methodist Church or the Golden Age Living Center.
