He migrated on 16 Apr 1840 through Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia to Myponga where he resided. His religion was the Church of England and he was a Blacksmith & Farmer.
He married Sarah Polden in 1860 at Yankalilla[2] and they had fifteen children, twelve living until his death.
He passed away 3 Aug 1897 at Myponga, South Australia[3][4]
and was buried that day at Myponga Cemetery, South Australia[5]

ROWLEY: On the 4 August at his son's residence, Adelaide of paralysis, John Rowley, Myponga, aged 58 years, leaving a widow, five sons, and seven daughters to mourn their loss. A colonist of fifty-seven years.
