Biography
Samuel R. Rowsome was born March 12, 1835, the son of Richard Rowsome and Mary Rathwell.
In 1851, Samuel, aged 17, was living in Wolford Township, Grenville County, Canada West[1]. The Rowsome's listed on the same page include: Samuel (27), Samuel (73) and his wife Jane (61), Richard (38) and his wife Mary (39), Samuel (17), Jane (14), Catherine (11), Margaret (10), Ellen (9), Richard (7), and Melissa (2).
In 1861, Richard and Mary were living in Wolford Township, Grenville County, Canada West[2], with Samuel, James, Catherine, Mary A., Elenor, Richard, and Sarah.
He married Martha Todd before 1864.
Together they had the following children:

In 1871, Samuel and Martha were living in Augusta Township, Grenville County[3], with three Davis girls: Dorothy, 17; Catherine, 13; and Martha, 11; and their own children: Richard, 7; Samuel, 5; and Thomas, 2.
In 1881, Samuel and Martha were living in Wolford Township, Grenville County[4], with Catherine Davis, 23, Martha J. Davis, 21, along with his and Martha's children: Richard, 17; Samuel, 15; Ellen, 12; Joseph H., 9; and Mary Melissa, 7.
Martha died in 1883 from Bright's Disease (kidney failure).
Samuel married Eleanor Acheson in 1885. They had no children together.
In 1891, Samuel and Eleanor were living in Elizabethtown Township[5], with Joseph and Melissa, as well as an adopted son, James Cairneross, aged 8, born in Scotland.
In 1901, Samuel and Eleanor were living in Elizabethtown Township, Brockville, Ontario[6], with Joseph H. and Melissa M.
In 1911, Samuel and Eleanor were living with Joseph and his wife, Martha, in Elizabethtown[7], along with their daughter, Martha J., and a niece.
Samuel died on January 22, 1917[8] at the age of 82 years. His death record states he was born in Wolford Township, Grenville County, and died on Lot 4, Concession 9, in Elizabethtown Township, Leeds County. His parents were reported as Richard Rowsom, Esq., and Mary Rathwell. He died from pneumonia, one month, and asthma & heart failure, one day. The informant on the record was Joseph H. Rowsom, Jellyby.
Samuel is buried at Weir's Cemetery in Rocksprings, Ontario[9].
