William was born in 1812. He was the son of Dr William Roxburgh and Mary Boswell.
He was christened on 3 September 1812 at Calcutta, Bengal, India[1].
His father died in 1815.
William lived with his widowed mother Mary and unmarried sister Sibella at Gloucester Place, St Marylebone, Middlesex, England. In 1851 he was aged 38 and single.

He married Anne Elizabeth Boswell on 18 December 1857:
They went on to have three children.
His mother died in 1859.
UK Census Date 1871: Living with his wife and three children in St Cuthbert, Bedfordshire, England. Aged 58. Also in the household were his two sisters in law Sibella and Mary and two servants.

He passed away in 1897 at the age of 84.[3] His will was proved on 20 May 1897 at Ipswich to Anne Elizabeth Roxburgh, widow, William Henry Roxburgh, solicitor and Alexander Bruce Roxburgh, esquire. [4] Effects: £16962 12s. 9d.
