Nicholas Le Roy was baptized on 25 May 1639 in St-Remi-de-Dieppe, Rouen, Normandie, son of Louis Roy and of Anne (Lemaistre) Lemaître.[3] Godparents were Jacques Baudoin and Françoise Preaux.
Nicolas is first mentioned in the country when he emigrated from France with his wife, Jeanne "d'Arc" Lelièvre, in 1662.[3] Arrived on the Le Jardin de Hollande. Nicolas followed his father-in-law, Guillaume Lelièvre, who already left for Québec in 1659.
Nicolas passed away before 24 Oct 1691.[3]

He has Ancestral File Number 3872. He was a Knife Maker. He lived in Signeurie de Cortier, St-Joseph, Quebec, New France. On his arrival he settled with his family in the seigneurie de Beaupré. He obtained a concession from the widow of Guillaume Couillard, Mrs. Guillemette Hébert. On August 1664 the Notary Duquette signed over two arpents of land to Nicolas at Beaupré. This farm on the Île d'Orléans did not belong to Guillaume Lelièvre, but leased from the Seigneurie Île d'Orléans Jacques Cailhaut de la Tesserie and his wife Eleonore de Grandmaison in 1667. The lease contract was signed by the Notary Gilles Rageot. Guillaume's lease agreement was to split the profit of the farm with the owners. The lease was renewed 1673 with notary Romaine Becquet; in 1675 the same arrangement was made with Olivier Morel de la Duranttaye from the same Seigneurie with the same name at sud du St. Laurent.
Enfin, Marie-Jeanne Roy, fille de Nicolas Roy et d’Anne LeLièvre, vécut un événement scabreux. Âgée de moins de cinq ans, elle est violée par un voisin de 29 ans, nommé Jacques Nourry. Il est condamné à être pendu à une potence. Son corps à être traîné à la voirie, après que sa tête en soit séparée, pour être ensuite mise à un poteau. Marie Roy grandit normalement, devient l’épouse de Jean Gaudreau, en 1679. Après la mort de celui-ci, elle se remarie en 1687, avec Jean Fournier et leur fils nommé Jean Fournier.
Jardin de Hollande" and "l'Aigle d'Or" departed from LaRochelle with 300 Passengers. The Passenger listed Nicolas Le Roy of Dieppe age 23, his widowed mother, his wife Jeanne and two sons, Louis ,three and a half years, Nicolas age one year. The voyage lasted four moths. The passengers suffered from scurvy and sixty died on the voyage. They arrived in Québec on Sept 22. Nicolas and his family were met by his Father in Law who had arrived three years before. Nicolas settled on the cost of Beaupré near the sault Montmorency. He lived there for 17 years he then moved to the south side of the river which is today the parish of Beaumont. He had seven sons who married and lived in Beaumont, St-Michel and St-Vallier. His descendants have multiplied for all these years.
