Lorsque Jean-Baptiste Roy est né le 1 février 1760, à Saint-Henri-de-Mascouche, L'Assomption, Québec, Canada, son père, Pierre Roy, avait 43 ans et sa mère, Agathe Marie Roy, avait 36 ans. Il a épousé Charlotte Moreau dit Duplessis le 10 novembre 1788, à Repentigny, L'Assomption, Québec, Canada. Ils ont eu au moins 8 fils et 1 fille. Il est décédé le 18 avril 1827, dans sa ville natale, à l’âge de 67 ans.
