Sadly George succumbed to Rhumatoid Arthritis during the late 1930's. He was eventually confined to a wheelchair, and had horrible crippling in his hands. By the time I came along he was unable to walk. For all that I will always remember his kindness, love and patience with me and indeed all his grandchildren.
His career began at the 'Nail Works' but he rose to become a Manager for IBM when they were mostly involved with 'Time' systems... Clocks in towers in towns, punch-card systems for workers etc. He worked across Canada in Victoria, Winnipeg and primarily Toronto. He was considered a '100 percenter' and was known to Thomas Watson. Not bad for a boy from Creemore, Ontario with a high school education.
James Royal
Lived on West Pine, Ward 3 in Collingwood. Married to Margaret (McAllister) Income $3,800 as Manager. I remember he talked about working at the 'Nail Works'.
