William was born in about 1863. He was the son of Joseph Royston and Mary Owen.
UK Census Date 1871: Recorded with his parents and siblings in Rhyl, Denbighshire, Wales. Aged 8.
He was still recorded with his family in Wales in the UK Census of 1881.
By 1891 he was recorded as a Boarder in the household of John Calveatt at Gravesend, Milton, Kent, England. He was aged 28 and employed as a Solicitor's Clerk.
He returned to South Africa where he married Eva Bristow on 27 June 1905 at St. Thomas Church, Berea, Durban, Natal, after Banns[1].
They had two sons.
He passed away in 1938 at the age of 75[2]. Cause of death was recorded as Coronary Thrombosis and Heart Failure.
William was buried at Stellawood Cemetery, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa[3].
