Biography

Sergeant Moses Rucker served in the United States Civil War.
Enlisted: May 8, 1861
Mustered out: June 30, 1864

  • Died at age 89.
  • Buried Longwood Cemetery, Bedford, Virginia.
  • Married Sallie Frances Parker (1844–1925)
  • He was a farmer and his family owned a small plantation in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. On May 8, 1861, he enlisted in the Confederate Army and served in Company F, 2nd Regiment Virginia Calvary, Cpt. James Wilson's command, where he rose from private to sergeant. His journal recounting his life and time in the CSA has been handed down through subsequent generations and is held by the Rucker Family Society.
