Biography

Caty Rucker's birthdate and place of birth is not known. She married Samuel Burruss in October, 1788. Her date of death is uncertain, but at the 28 Aug 1828 division of property following her mother, Elizabeth's death, her husband Samuel Burriss received lot 8, 18 2/3 acres valued at $72. The Court record states "Samuel Burriss as tenant by the courtesy, remainder of his children at fee simple by his wife, Kitty, formerly Kitty Rucker." It seems Caty, or "Kitty" died prior to that date in 1828.

Slaves

Caty Burrus received from her father, Thomas Rucker, Jr., a negro girl named Lucy sometime prior to his will in 1805. Lucy Unknown (bef.1805-)
