Hi Daniel,

Wales Project Semi-Annual Check-In

Thank you for being a member of the Wales Project. You may recall membership requires at least one contribution to project goals during each 6-month period. A contribution includes creation of and modification to Wales related profiles.

Have you been able to contribute?

It is recognized some members are active. Thank you for your work. (There is no viable method to determine which members have been active in the Wales Project.)

  • Do you desire to stay on your current project team(s)?
  • Which teams are you most active in?
  • Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?
  • Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future?

Please respond to this message by posting a reply in Comments below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Stuart Awbrey, Membership Coordinator

Hi Daniel,

Thank you so much for all your contributions to WikiTree in the last six months, and especially to the Wales Project. It’s been wonderful to have you as part of the team as we work together to increase the quality and quantity of Welsh Profiles.

I have you down as being on the Glamorgan and Data Doctors Teams. Is this right? How are things going? Do you have any questions? What can we do to support you? Would you like to change any of your teams? Do you want to continue in the Wales Project moving forwards?

I look forward to hearing back from you with all the above and to catching up with you on Discord.

Thanks once again,

Olivia, Project Coordinator for Wales :-)

Hey Olivia! All good as usual. I am on Glamorgan, Data Doctors and working with Steve Bartlett on Categories.

You can see my personal active projects (including all wales activities on my free space page below)

No extra support or questions needed on my end, if anything comes up will hit you up on discord.

Very happy with the teams I am working on.

And obviously I want to continue with the wales project, how would you guys survive without my witty banter ;)

Thanks for the check in Olivia... Keep up the great work

Hey Stewart,

I have a keen interest in Working with your Data Doctors team for Wales! Also I don't know if you have anything active in my area of Glamorgan as I would also be willing to assist with anything there also.

Let me know how I can get involved

Hi Dan,

I am the Wales Project coordinator for the Counties and welcome to the project. Stuart has forwarded your message to me so I can get you set up in the Glamorgan team.

Glamorgan doesn't currently have a team leader so I shall be asking the members if they would be willing to step up to the role. Whilst you are ideally placed to do this you may want to find your feet in the project first which is understandable.

I don't do much research in Wales but like you I am a resident of the Principality. My ancestors are English though some were resident in Wales during their lifetime. I have lived here longer than anywhere else but currently lived in England longer than Wales.

Hi Daniel,

I noticed your comment about doing the GEDCOM cleanup. There is a tool that can help to make the biographies easier to read. You can find out more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ. As it does the conversion, it also creates the stable Links to Ancestry templates that will continue to work even if their URL structure changes. That can be really helpful for those records which don't have equivalent datasets at FamilySearch.

Hope this help,

Debi

Oh Debi! Thank you soooo much for this, I found wikitree+ before bed last night and run the errors report on my ancestry imported profiles, I overlooked when importing the amount that was doubly imported (big newbie error) I will be sure to get to learning this new tool hoping it can help as I have been struggling, I changed the browser font to tiny so I could see more of what was imported in one go to only then to have to squint to see haha...

Thanks again I really do appreciate how helpful everyone here is :)

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Doing very Well thanks Cheryl... Added a lot of people from GEDCOMs now working to clean the sources on all of them (changing ancestry to using FamilySearch). Thanks for the tip on using RootsSearch, it will save me a lot of time copy/pasting into the source sites.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The England Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).
