Research Notes
According to the millenium file Elizabeth Lee was the mother of Mary Ruff, Elizabeth Ruff, James Ruff and Jane Ruff. I could not find a marriage record between James Ruff and Elizabeth Lee, but I haven' seen the original image of the marriage register, so Elizabeth's surname could well have been mistranscribed as Lacy rather than Lea / Lee. I Have searched Fee Reg, Ancestry, Family Search, Find My Past.
I then researched the ancestors and descendents of James Ruff and Elizabeth Lea, I found that Elizabeth Lee was daughter of Anthony Lea and Anne London. The London family were certainly closely related to the Ruff family from my research. So can only presume that Elizabeth Lea is the correct surname at birth for James Ruff's wife at this time.
