The following record -- whose January, 1753 date fits perfectly with the recorded September birthdate for John -- would seem to show the marriage of John's parents (NEHGS; image of printed record): "RUGGLES... John and Elizabeth Eaton of Dedham, Jan. 11, 1753. In Dedham."[1]
The marriage of Mary Pettee to John Ruggles is recorded in 1782. [2] Their son Simon is shown born in 1787; there is a record showing his 1812 New Hampshire marriage to Sarah Dustin (this marriage is not currently shown on Simon's profile): it plainly lists John and Mary (Pettee) Ruggles as Simon's parents.[3]
There is a problem, however, in the connection of this profile's John Ruggles with Simon Ruggles as father and son. The dates given on Simon's profile are a clear match to the death record for a Simon Ruggles found at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N7N6-LVP. But both parents of that Simon Ruggles are recorded, in that death record, as having been born in _Ireland_ -- while the John Ruggles of this profile was born at Wrentham, and his wife Mary (Pettee) Ruggles was born at Dedham. Therefore: it would appear that either the wrong parents, or the wrong dates, have been assigned to Ruggles-1339.
The groom in the first marriage noted above -- marrying a bride from Dedham, which is within ten miles of modern Quincy -- may well be the John Ruggles shown born at Quincy (originally, Braintree, until 1792) in early 1725: "RUGGLES... John, the son of John Ruggles, Mar. 14 1724/5".[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
I am positive that Ruggles-1230 And Ruggles-1240 are the same person. Having never merged anyone, I want to make sure that all the information/research between the two is not lost.
