Biography

Wife of Lyman Case 1807–1857 (m. 1838)

"Rebecca was the 2nd wife of Lyman Case (son of Alexander and Rhoda Sprague Case). The family lived in Vermillion, Erie Co., Ohio in 1840 and in Vermillion twp., Erie Co., in 1850. Lyman owned 167 acres in Vermillion twp., land left to his wife Rebecca by her father Almon Ruggles. Lyman and Rebecca mortgaged this land several times, the mortgages were not cancelled until a title suit in 1926 cleared them. The farmland was sold after Lyman's death. His daughter, Caroline G. Case of Elyria, sold her portion, the west part of Lot 3, 78 acres on 14 January 1861, inherited by Rebecca Ruggles Case from her father Almon Ruggles and then inherited by Caroline from Rebecca. Lyman's son, Sidney Case of Vermillion, sold his half interest in this land on 11 December 1862."
