Rachel was born 15 Nov. 1722, Braintree, Mass. Bay Colony. [1] She died in Boston 24 Mar. 1789. [2]She is the daughter of John Ruggles and Rachel Jones. Named as his grandchild in the will of Thomas Jones of Hull, MBC dated 16 June 1730(?) [3]
Rachel's will revealed many family relations and is used to identify her four husbands. There she named late husbands Capt. Arthur Savage and James Noble as well as, at the time, husband James Pecker. [4] It's possible Rachel married 1st in Boston:
James Clough 2 Mar 1737. At not yet age 15 this may be unrealistic but Rachel was identified as of Braintree in the record. [5] James' parents are unknown and he probably does not have a WT profile. He died 22 June 1743, Boston. [6]
James Noble, Esq. m. 6 Apr. 1768 (intention?) Rachel Savage in Boston. [9] Parents unknown and probably not profiled on WT. James died between 13 Dec 1769 [signed will - case #15197) 14 Aug 1772 (the date will was presented to probate).
James Pecker m. Rachel Noble 22 Sept. 1774 in Boston. [10] From the profile of Rachel's father James Pecker was referred to as a physician. The Thwing Collection profiles Dr. Pecker and does assert Rachel was indeed the widow of James Clough, Arthur Savage, and James Noble. [11]
