Sumner was born in Reading Vermont, but married Emily [May] Ruggles 29 Nov. 1827 in Dalton, Coos County, NH; their children that we have information for are listed as being born in Dalton and both Sumner and his wife Emily are buried in the Cushman Cemetery in Dalton NH it is safe to say that Sumner arrived in Dalton some time before his marriage to Emily in 1827.
