Biography

Mary's 1755 birth year is an estimate based on her husband's 1750 birth year and the 1774 and 1777 birth years of her two children. Her parents' profiles say her father was born in 1739 and her mother in 1722, which seems unusual. One merged profile said she was born in 1748, which is not possible if her father was born in 1739.

Mary is named in the DAR patriot Index. Her husband Hugh is credited with both patriotic and active duty service for Pennsylvania. He held the rank of private with 1) Capt William Berryhill, 8th & 1st Battalion, Cumberland and he paid the Supply Tax in 1778 and 1779. [1]

Research Notes
