George Runciman was born on 26 September 1798 and was baptised on 17 October 1798 in Innerwick, Haddingtonshire, Scotland, son of Thomas Runciman (~1762 - >1841) and Jean Simpson (~1756 - ~1841)[1].
In the 1841 Scotland Census George is said to be aged 40 years and employed as an Agricultural Labourer. He resides with his wife Janet (40), children Agnes (13), John (10), George 7, Darling (3) and his father in law David Darling (70) at Balgone Barns, North Berwick, Haddingtonshire[3].
By the 1851 Census his wife Janet is residing with their daughter Agnes and her family along with John, George and Darling at Auldham Farm in the Parish of Whitekirk and Tyninghame, Haddingtonshire[4].
George died at somepoint between the 1841 and 1851 Census' being held. It is assumed he died at Balgone Barns, North Berwick, Haddingtonshire which was the family home. Balgone Barns can be found just 3 miles South of North Berwick and 1 mile East of Kingston.
