Another direct male line descendant of William's is required to confirm the DNA signature for this branch of the RUNCIMANs.

Despite the mother shown on William's death cert., his parents were assumed to be Thomas Runciman & Jean Simpson, but different sons (of Thomas) cannot have different Y-DNA signatures - 3 differ so far!

From the DNA it looks like we shouldn't have discounted this cert. showing his mother as Christine, not Jean ^[5] Bur. Borthwick burying ground; Inf. son Thomas; Reg. 30th

Note: Reference to "Brewery" removed from death place name. No such place exists in Borthwick. If this is a house or business it should be referenced in the biography.
